Michael Ray was born and raised in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, where he accepted Christ at the age of 12. He has been preaching since age 15. After graduating from high school as valedictorian, he earned his B.S. in 1978 and his M.Ed. in 1979 from Hyles-Anderson College.  

Since 1986, Mike Ray has pastored the Hopewell Baptist Church in Napa, California. He has been a frequent guest speaker in churches, conferences, Bible colleges, and camps for over 30 years.

Pastor Ray has a heart for writing powerful, practical literature for Christians desiring more than the typical ecumenical material of our day. Holding fast to the fundamental doctrines of God’s Word, he has produced some insightful resources covering various areas of ministry. It is his desire that these materials have the widest possible impact for the glory of God.  

He is married to the former Verna Weymouth, who co-authored I Still Do. Mike and Verna have five children and are the proud grandparents of thirteen grandchildren.
